‘I’m never moving again’… The ultimate stay-in checklist for a cozy Friday night at home
Were often told that Friday nights should spent going out and living life to the full and while theres absolutely nothing wrong with that, I will almost always vote for a cozy Friday night at home instead.
At the end of a busy week at work, there is nothing I look forward to more than collapsing onto the couch with my girlfriend, tucking into some takeout food, and de-stressing with an easy-watch movie or TV show. If that sounds like your cup of tea, The Focus has put together an essential stay-in checklist for the perfect Friday night at home.
Step 1. Order takeout food
The last thing you want to be doing on a Friday night is cooking an elaborate and time-consuming meal.
While takeout food may not necessarily be the healthiest option to have every week, ordering in can be a welcome occasional treat after an especially hectic week.
As countless others will likely have the same idea, always ensure to get your order in early so youre not left waiting for your food to arrive.
If youre looking for a less-expensive option, an easy alternative would be to get some microwave meals or frozen pizzas that you can easily stick in the oven.

Step 2: Turn on do not disturb
Once your food has arrived, get those notifications snoozed.
The last thing you want to disturb your cozy evening is group chat drama, pesky friends inviting you out or an overzealous work colleague contacting you after office hours.
Step 3: Prepare snacks
If you have a night in front of the TV planned, its a good idea to get any snacks or drinks you might want ready before you settle down so you dont have to go through the inconvenience of getting up halfway through your show or movie to grab a bag of chips.
Firm favorites in my house are chocolate, candy, ice cream, and any sweet treats from the bakery section in the supermarket.

Step 4: Cocoon yourself in blankets
There is no better feeling than wrapping yourself up in a blanket and getting cozy on the couch, particularly during the colder months of the year.
While this can obviously be enjoyed by yourself, if you have a significant other or a pet to cuddle, it only helps add to the experience.
Step 5: Dive into the movie or TV show of your choice
The pice de resistance of any cozy Friday night at home is settling down in front of the TV and sticking on a movie or series.
I find that the best thing after a tiring week at work is something light, heartwarming, and humorous and my girlfriend and I have recently been re-watching the likes of Ted Lasso, the original UK version of Ghosts and Doctor Who.
Alternatively, easy-watch rom-coms, TV sitcoms, or anything that is generally light-hearted will all make for great Friday night viewing and leave you saying, I’m never moving again, as you put the worries of the working week behind you.

Step 6: End the evening with a book
Once you’ve had the chance to wind down in front of the TV, a great way to end the evening is to read a chapter or two of a book, either on the couch or in bed.
Obviously, this step depends on how tired you are after your evening on the couch, but spending the last hour before bed not looking at screens is highly recommended by sleep and health experts to help you drift off.
