Iconic cat backpack from new movie Argylle was inspired by an A-list musician
Despite boasting a star-studded cast, the star of new spy comedy Argylle is Alfie the cat, who spends much of the movie in a stylish cat backpack.
In the movie, which is set to hit US theaters on February 2, Alfie is the beloved cat of author Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard) and never leaves her side thanks to the cat backpack she carries which features a domed viewing window for her feline friend to see out of.
How Taylor Swift inspired Argylle
Discussing the influences for Alfie the cat, who is owned in real life by model Claudia Schiffer, Argylle director Matthew Vaughn revealed that A-list musician Taylor Swift helped to inspire the kittys iconic cat backpack.
I drew inspiration from my kids, Vaughn said. Who had me watch a Taylor Swift documentary featuring Taylor wearing a cat pack.
The documentary in question is Netflixs Miss Americana from 2020. Roughly 47 minutes into the film, Taylor can be seen wearing a cat backpack not too dissimilar from Elly Conways in Argylle while disembarking from a flight, with her furry friend Olivia seen peering out from the window.
Vaughn said that he made a mental note to use it in the future, and Argylle proved to be the perfect project to include one.

Get your own Argylle-themed cat backpack
Unsurprisingly, Argylles producers have seen the cat backpack as the perfect opportunity for some ingenious marketing and have partnered with Travel Cat to create a range of products including a replica of the movie’s catpack that pet owners can buy.
The officially licensed Argylle cat backpack comes with a price tag of $99 and is available to pre-order before it begins shipping on March 15, 2024.
As seen in the movie, the Argylle cat backpack is equipped with a plastic bubble window which can be easily switched out for a flat screen attachment with a simple unscrewing mechanism.
On top of that, the Travel Cat product includes an adjustable harness and leash clip to keep your furry companion safely secure as well as zipper clips and YKK zippers to stop any passengers opening the backpack from the inside.
The cat backpack, which can carry felines weighing up to 15 pounds (6.8kg), features air holes in its sides and front to provide ventilation and allows you to slip in a kitty treat or two.
