I tried a 4-step yoga technique to get naturally plump lips at home

I am not big on plump lips, but the Face Yoga technique suggested by an expert looked so easy that I couldn’t help trying it at home.

Plump lips are a fad that seems to never go out of style, and products that promise to enhance the shape and size of the attractive feature will always be in demand. The DIY massage, however, is effortless compared to conventional methods that make lips luscious, but with money, effort, and pain (if you’re into fillers).

How Face Yoga for plump lips works

Face yoga expert Anastasia claims, the technique she demonstrates in one of her videos supposedly helps relax the orbicularis oris muscle around your lips to make them plump. Follow the below steps to see if it works for you.

  1. Massage and knead through your entire mouth area. To do this, hold your lips between your index finger and the thumb and gently press a few times. Especially get into the side of your lips, the expert suggests.
  2. Rotate your tongue inside your mouth while keeping your lips shut. This is to strengthen the muscles around your lips.
  3. The third exercise is “great for your lips”, and you do it by locking your lips with your two fingers and kissing against the resistance. Watch the below video to know how its done.
  4. The fourth step involves gentle lip contour pinches to increase blood circulation and plump your lips naturally.

At last, cover your lips with your teeth and gently press them against each other. Hold this position for a minute.

I couldn’t see the difference

As disappointing as it may be to plump lip lovers, the above technique didn’t make my lips magically juicy or bigger in a few minutes.

My chapstick does a better job in less time, to be honest. However, the message felt relaxing and the muscles around my lips could use some kneading.

I wouldn’t brush the off method as useless because I tried it only once. It may have long-lasting effects when done consistently because studies show Face Yoga can impact your appearance.

Trying this wouldn’t hurt if you have no expectations. If Kylie Jenner-like lips are what you’re after, this one isn’t for you.
