Why does my Facebook ‘chirp’ when I scroll?

The sound heard by the majority of Facebook users on the app is a refresh notification, that goes off each time you scroll the newsfeed.

While users think it is a glitch that needs to be fixed, it is an in-app feature and can be turned off yourself.

Some users while flagging the issue, have claimed that they’ve been hearing the sound for almost a week. And according to some of the other users, the notification started to appear more frequently after they updated their Facebook app.

One user complained: “I updated my Facebook app and that annoying newsfeed refresh sound keeps coming like crazy. What the hell”

“Facebook, please fix that stupid sound. Half of your users are hearing it,” said another.

A third user noted: “The Facebook app constantly making the feed refresh sound in the latest update is driving me absolutely insane”

“I don’t know why my Facebook makes the annoying sound every time I scroll the slightest bit but get RID of it,” read one Tweet.
