How to make the 2024 Prosperity Bowl and lucky fruits for New Year

The Prosperity Bowl is a popular tradition among Filipinos, and it holds that the assortment of several spiritually significant items can bring wealth, happiness, and good luck to your life as we usher in the new year. There are also 12 other fruits considered “lucky” and it is believed one must have it on New Year’s Eve to make sure 2024 kicks off on the right note.

Everything included in the 2024 Prosperity Bowl

There are 10 items included in the 2024 Prosperity Bowl and each one has its own significance.

Circular bowl – continuity, harmony, unity, wholeness, and heaven.
Cotton – channels the essence of harmony and balance.
Garlic – symbolizes wealth and new opportunities.
Rice – considered a link between Heaven and Earth
12 eggs – represented fertility, manifestation, abundance, reawakening, and blessings. One for each month of the year.
12 paper bills with red ribbons tied around them – symbolize wealth and abundance.
Laurel or Bay Leaves – promotes balance and harmony in your environment.
12 Golden Coins – to ward off evil and attract prosperity.
Pineapple – for good luck and prosperity.
12 Golden Turtles – represent longevity and perseverance.

How to arrange all the items

Although most ingredients from the above list are common in all Prosperity Bowls, TikTok users have replaced a couple of them with different items that are also spiritually significant.

However, the order in which they are arranged remains the same. So, all you need to do is start by placing the cotton in the circular bowl, followed by a clove of garlic.

Pour the rice over it and spread it evenly. Arrange the eggs around the bowl in a circle and keep the paper bills between the eggs.

Each coin is placed beside the eggs and paper bills in a circle. You can stick bay leaves in the gaps between these items.

The tiny golden turtles are added to the bowl in the end, as per a TikTok video. They can be kept in any order, unlike other items.

Just like how eating 12 grapes on New Year’s Eve is considered lucky, more fruits are believed to bring prosperity into your lives in the new year. Most of them symbolize abundance, happiness, and wealth.
