Heart surgeon shares the 4 things he avoids to live a longer healthier life

Heart surgeon Jeremy London shared the four things he avoids for better heart health, from ones you might expect like vaping to the shocking revelation about mouthwash.

Our hearts don’t just run our relationships but they also keep our bodies functioning, so it’s one of the most important areas of our health. Bless the social media gods though as experts are fans of apps like TikTok and Instagram in 2024. Now you don’t have to wait for advice like how coffee can reduce the risk of heart failure.

You should avoid vaping for heart health, obviously

Doctor Jeremy London, who earlier recommended chewing aspirin during a suspected heart attack, knows what he’s talking about when it comes to infusing your heart with longevity and health.

In a recent Instagram clip, which has already amassed 170k likes, the dashing doctor outlined four things he keeps away from. The first was smoking and vaping.

We have long heard about the negative effects of nicotine addiction, from poor oral hygiene to its effect on human lungs.

“It’s probably the single worst thing you can do to yourself,” the doctor claimed.

Though vaping and smoking are practically mandatory inclusions on such a list, we were shocked to see Jeremy London cautioning followers against mouthwash containing alcohol.

“Our gut microbiome, or the good bacteria in our gut, begin in the mouth. So if you kill this bacteria, you can actually throw that out of balance,” he revealed. “Interestingly, the bacteria in our mouth help produce nitric oxide.”

Nitric oxide is shown to manage blood pressure, meaning your habitual morning mouthwash is actively working against your overall heart health. Instead, opt for a non-alcoholic mouthwash during your next trip to the pharmacy.

You might consider quitting your fast-food trips

The doctor’s next point was to “remove or limit” your intake of ultra-processed foods, which shockingly, kids get 69% of their calories from.

The doctor’s last point for better heart health was to limit alcohol intake as he further claimed that even the slightest amount can have negative consequences. The body breaks alcohol down into various nasty substances, though none more negative than Acetaldehyde which is toxic to “every single cell in the body.”

Keeping with the trend that has run throughout much of human history, it doesn’t seem many of the doctor’s followers are listening to his keen advice

“Life is about balance. We only exist in this world for a fraction of the You lost me at alcohol time. Peoples lives are cut short even if they are perfect in following this advice,” someone pointed out.

“I’m going to have a hot dog and a beer while I go outside for a smoke,” another wrote, as someone else said, “You lost me at alcohol.”
