‘Ghost poop’ is a sign of a perfectly healthy gut, says doctor
There’s nothing gross about regularly checking your poop. In fact, it says a lot about your health, and being aware of any changes in its appearance helps in early intervention and diagnosis of serious illnesses.
Gut health determines your overall well-being although people don’t talk enough about it. Luckily, some social media users are happy to share that they have “ghost poop”, which implies good health.

‘Ghost poop’ is the sign of ‘healthiest people’
Do you always turn around to check how your poop looks before flushing? If not, it’s high time you made it a regular habit because poop that’s easy to spot could indicate issues with your health.
Social media users are boasting about their “ghost poop”, which naturopathic doctor Janine Bowring defines as the sign of the “healthiest people in the world”.
It gets its name from the fact that it sinks to the bottom of the toilet and sometimes, isn’t easily visible to the naked eye. If you don’t know yet, poop that doesn’t float indicates that your diet is nutritious and lifestyle, healthy.
Dr. Janine says there are several reasons the poop vanishes once you’ve finished your business. “You’ve got that fiber, you’ve got enough of those essential fatty acids, your circadian rhythms are in tune with light and dark cycles of the day,” she explains.
How healthy poop looks
A healthy poop may be hard to spot, but the naturopathic doctor explains different signs that your stool is healthy. The shape and form of your poop is directly linked to your overall well-being, although going to the bathroom immediately after eating isn’t concerning.
Healthy poop is supposed to be dark and shaped like the letter S unless you’ve consumed a diet that causes the color to change.
She calls it an S-shaped dark sinker, which is equally good as poop that looks like a smooth log. A healthy poop is supposed to sink and not stay afloat.
Whereas, stool that resembles tiny balls is considered a sign of severe constipation. As there are safer and more effective methods to treat the condition, we urge you to refrain from trying the viral TikTok hack promising fast relief from constipation.
Eating foods rich in fiber such as oats, chickpeas, or Kiwi among fruits is recommended to fix your poop if it looks like meatballs.
