Fans spot one ‘change’ in McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish Sandwich that’s left them disappointed
Unlike other restaurants where the fish sandwich comes and goes only around Easter, McDonald’s has Filet-O-Fish on its menu throughout the year.
In 2024, however, several fans claim that they’ve spotted one noticeable change in the Filet-O-Fish, but McDonald’s has denied those claims.

McDonald’s fans claim Filet-O-Fish Sandwich is smaller
Many believe Filet-O-Fish has become the victim of “shrinkflation”, which means downsizing food items for the same price.
Although fans have been flagging this for months, there is more spotlight on the issue now, in the Lent season.
As Christians abstain from eating other meat and only consume fish on Fridays, fish sandwiches are most people’s go-to option in the weeks leading to Easter.
With increasing demand for the popular McDonald’s dish, discussions about its size have become more common on social media.
“So, I usually get McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish Sandwiches during Lent Every Year, I went there yesterday & I’m Not Happy, The Sandwiches Are Half the Size,” claimed one customer.
Adding to the above comment, another user wrote: “McDonald’s, I love you, but you destroyed my favorite sandwich, the Filet-O-Fish, by shrinking it to the size of a biscuit. Fish Friday ruined.”
“Has anyone seen the size of Filet-O-Fish lately? It’s more like a slider than a sandwich. Way to do shrinkflation, McDonald’s,” claimed another.
Restaurant denies any changes to its dish
Year after year, McDonald’s has denied making any changes to Filet-O-Fish’s size.
The fast-food giant told Eat This, Not That just two days ago that “the size and build of the Filet-O-Fish hasn’t changed in decades.”
The restaurant had shut down similar claims last year as well. “The size and build of the Filet-O-Fish, including a half slice of American cheese, has not changed in decades,” McDonald’s USA told Business Insider in a statement.
The Focus has reached out to McDonald’s for further comments.
