Fans dub author Nicholas Sparks a sociopath after he revealed his signature salad recipe

New York Times bestseller Nicholas Sparks has rubbed his legions of fans the wrong way after revealing his “sociopath” salad recipe that included not one, not two, but 16 packets of Splenda.

Food is inherently personal, which is why you get abominations like the South’s signature sweet tea and the fluffy egg trend that looks like vomit. Still, it’s best not to judge and instead let people eat and drink what they want to.

Nicholas Sparks’ salad recipe is quite something

Nicholas Sparks is perhaps the most successful romance author of all time, having published 23 books with 115 million copies sold worldwide in more than 50 languages. Notable books include The Notebook, Dear John, The Lucky One, and Counting Miracles.

Despite his clear talent in the world of publishing, it seems Nicholas could do with a cooking lesson or two.

In a recent profile in The New York Times, Nicholas Sparks dived headfirst into his food habits in a move that has already come back to bite him.

“Earlier in the day, before a photographer and reporter arrived at his home, Mr. Sparks spent the morning at his kitchens granite countertop chopping two skinless, boneless rotisserie chickens, a few stalks of celery, and a Vidalia onion,” penned the publication, adding that he tends to avoid carbs where he can. “He then whipped together a dressing consisting of mayonnaise, dill pickle relish, jalapeo relish, apple cider vinegar, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, and 16 packets of Splenda.”

For some much-needed context, 16 packets of Splenda is the equivalent of two-thirds a cup of sugar (130 grams).

You can use real sugar, but why throw sugar in if you can use Splenda? the author added.

Though salad is constantly lorded as the ultimate health kick meal, Nicholas Sparks’ version might be more akin to TikTok’s candy salad.

As you might expect, the author’s signature meal drew massive amounts of criticism online as fans questioned the point of having a salad so overloaded with Splenda.

“As a true chicken salad connoisseur, this is sociopathy,” one person penned, as another said, “This is like some description of an Irishman with hidden gills in a Lovecraft story.”

Someone else pointed out: “That is wild on its face, obviously. but also at that point why are you still using individual packets of Splenda? invest in a full box! Nicholas Sparks is wasting so much time fiddling around ripping each packet open!”

“From the south and we’re known for using obscene amounts of sugar but I’ve never even considered putting it in Chicken salad,” another joked.
