Wolf and Butterfly top the list

Wolf Cut topped the list by miles, ranking the most popular hairstyle in all fifty states. Originating in South Korea, the hairstyle features lots of chunky layers on the top and wispy, wavy ends at the back, a bit similar to a mullet.

It’s been popularised by a number of celebrities including Miley Cyrus, Jenna Ortega and Billie Eilish, as well as K-Pop stars Baekhyun and Beomgyu. The once rare and edgy hairstyle has now made its way into the mainstream.

Next on the list was Butterfly, a very different style to the Wolf Cut. It’s a long cut whichcombines short layers around your face with long ones at the back to give your hair dimension, bounce, movement, and body.

“Drawing inspiration from Rachel Green’s iconicFriendslook, this face-framing style features abundant voluminous layers,” the experts said – revealing that the style is most popular in Texas and seen on Sydney Sweeney, Addison Rae, and Kaia Gerber.

A Smullet is a short, modern-style mullet, while a Shag is a messy style consisting of choppy ends, layers and a fringe. Pixie Cut also made the list, a short women’s hairstyle which can be one-length or shorter on the back.

More styles to try this spring

Some other styles in the top 30 most-searched this spring include a Buzz Cut, Side Part and Side Swept Bangs.

A cut with the strange name Octopus is also trending, which is a combination of a shag and mullet a bit similar to the Wolf Cut.

Curtain Bangs are still fairly popular too, which took over the internet in 2023, as is the Choppy Lob and Undercut.

However, it’s important to choose a hairstyle that you truly love – and don’t feel like you have to follow the trends.
