Ex-Green Beret shares his 4-step morning routine from ‘cruel’ early wake to icy plunge
A former Green Beret has shared his 4-step morning routine that could easily be done without his suggestions of waking up at 4 am.
The modern world is obsessed with routines, whether that be the morning routine that gets you out of bed the quickest, the routine for killer abs, or even the skincare routine that leaves you with baby-soft skin.
The Green Beret wakes up at 4 am
When you consider the fact that the quality of our day is dictated by the actions we take first thing in the morning, it makes sense why we are so obsessed with streamlining those vital few hours.
Though changing your coffee habits might be enough to get your gears turning, there is so much more you could be doing to maximize your day’s efficiency.
Enter Tu Lam, a former member of the United States Army Special Forces, colloquially known as the Green Berets. Tu Lam gained immeasurable knowledge in the military but also through his dedication to Bushido, the Japanese Way of the Warrior.
When appearing on Shawn Ryan’s show, who himself is a former Navy SEAL and CIA Contractor, Tu Lam discussed his own morning routine. Shocker, it starts at 4 am.
“The morning routine is the most important routine and that’s because it sets up the framework for the rest of the day,” he told Shawn. “Four o’clock in the morning is not easy to get up for anyone, but I choose to get up at Four o’clock in the morning.”
Tu Lam continued to explain that his morning is typically comprised of meditation, a workout while listening to a podcast, a plunge into cold water, and finally, breakfast.
It might be a struggle for some
The former Green Beret’s morning routine might be packed with mental and physical health-enhancing activities, but it seems not everyone is jumping on board as one person dubbed his 4 am alarm as “cruel and unusual punishment.”
One person joked: “Bro I get up in the morning and grab a cigarette and a beer for the headache.”
“I cant wake up without anxiety,” another wrote.
But some were already living their best life, as one man explained: “Love it. But now retired get up at 6:30 AM. Have my coffee and some avocado toast and get busy with a workout.”
Though waking up at 4 am works for some people, and can benefit them in the long run, it’s not reasonable nor practical for everyone to do it. Nonetheless, Tu Lam’s morning routine could be easily filtered through your own.
