Emotions that cause diagnosed psychopath to cry isn’t what ‘normal humans can relate to’

There are numerous misconceptions surrounding psychopathy and one of them is that people with the mental health condition are “incapable of crying.”

People with antisocial personality disorders – psychopathy, sociopathy, and narcissism – do not process emotions and feelings like normal humans do, although they experience different triggers that make them shed tears.

‘Diagnosed psychopath’ says what makes her cry

TikTok user Vic, who identifies herself as a “diagnosed psychopath” gets asked a lot by others if she is capable of crying. As well as dispelling the popular myth, she also reveals the emotions that make her sad.

She clarifies that people with antisocial personality disorders are affected by emotions, as opposed to the common belief that they are stony-hearted.

However, because she doesn’t feel “empathy”, a tell-tale sign of antisocial personality disorder, she wouldn’t cry over a close relative’s passing or a terrible breakup.

Vic says she only cries when under stress as breaking down helps her relieve the pent-up feelings. She only cries when an incident or experience “evokes an emotion she already has.”

She cries during the first ten minutes of the Disney movie ‘UP’ as watching two people meet as kids, fall in love, and build a life together makes her sad because she doesn’t know what love feels like – one of the many normal emotions she’s alien to.

However, she doesn’t cry whenever she is sad unless she is extremely stressed. It’s been six months since she last cried, Vic shares in her TikTok.

Tell-traits of antisocial personality disorder

The Focus spoke to a psychologist to learn if there’s any truth to another common misconception about psychopaths – the “killer stare.”

Psychologist Adam Horvath said the mental condition is more complex than its representation in fiction or social media and the “killer stare” isn’t one of their signature traits.

However, lack of empathy is a core characteristic and explains why they may act without concern for others. Furthermore, those suffering from the problematic personality type lack genuine friendships and meaningful relationships because they see everyone as tools to be used.

This approach to relationships reflects their self-centered and calculating nature. Psychopaths are often callous and show no remorse or guilt for their actions, Adam tells The Focus.

When asked if it’s possible to identify a psychopath from any physical attributes, he said “There isnt a reliable way to identify a psychopath based on appearance. The killer stare is more of a myth than a diagnostic feature.
