Drag queens get shockingly different reactions from straight and gay people
A viral video caught the stark difference between reactions as two drag queens strutted their stuff down the street.
Drag artistry has exploded in recent years, in part due to RuPaul’s wise words and star quality. There are now over 16 seasons, several All-Stars projects, countless international versions, and over 600 drag queens in the RuPaul’s Drag Race family. It doesn’t seem to be slowing down.

The drag queens turned heads in the grocery store
Though we have come a long way over the last few decades, LGBTQ+ acceptance is reportedly declining after decades of improvement. There is no greater example of this than the internet, where casual homophobia is becoming all too comfortable.
Sven Sinz (@sevn.sinz) is a drag queen and makeup artist with over 800k followers on TikTok where you will usually find her posting reactionary videos. Walking down the street and filming reactions has basically become her brand at this point.
In one of the latest additions to the series, which has since garnered 3.5 million views and 800k likes, Sven strutted her stuff through a grocery store alongside girlfriend Ego Sinz (@Ego.sinz).
The first two men, who were presumably straight, turned their heads to watch the girls. Though neither of them sneered or rolled their eyes at the girls, they were clearly taken aback by the display.
The third man, who was considerably younger, seemed almost drawn to the drag queens as his eyes widened and his mouth hung open.
The video then switched to Sven and Ego venturing past gay bars, earning finger wags, clicks, and cheers from bystanders.
What does the gay finger wave mean?
Fans flocked to the comments to share their thoughts, as one penned: “Straight cis men judge a LOT for a species thats afraid to spread cheeks when they wash.”
“The gays know how they appreciate beauty and the work that went into it,” another wrote.
Though most of the compliments were celebratory, many questioned what the gay finger wave actually meant.
“I mean, I know THIS finger waves are for appreciation, but isn’t it like, saying no with the finger? aaah I’m so outdated,” one questioned, as another said, “What does the finger wave mean.”
Simply put, the finger wave is a universal sign of appreciation often seen within queer communities. It’s used to add emphasis to a moment, usually when someone is slaying particularly hard.
