Doctors slammed as 26-year-old who has never had a period tries to get pregnant
A 26-year-old woman has gone viral on TikTok after explaining that she has never had a period and is now trying to get pregnant.
Katie Young’s absent periods were always put down to low weight – and people are raging at doctors’ incompetence in the comments.

26-year-old has never had a period
“I’m 26 years old and I have never had my period,” she said in the viral video before explaining there were seasons she “didn’t mind it too much”.
“I never had to worry about being on my period during spring break in Mexico or worrying about if I was wearing white during that time in the month.”
However, she’s now got to the time in her life when she wants to have a baby, so the lack of menstruation has become a “significant problem”.

Growing up, Katie was always extremely active and played on a bunch of sports teams with high levels of intense activity.
She also explained that she had a bit of an eating disorder and was very underweight, so the fact she had no period was put down to that.
“Doctors would just say you have barely any body fat, you have barely any estrogen in your body, you’re so active,” the woman said.
She is now trying to get pregnant
She had a full checkup when she turned 18 and doctors still weren’t worried, and another one when she got to 22.
By that point, medical professionals agreed the lack of period was “weird” but just decided to put her on birth control.
They didn’t investigate the issue any further, so the woman still had no more answers than she did at the age of 16.
“Now I’m 26 years old. I just got off birth control and I can’t get pregnant,” she said. “I’ve been trying for several months.”
Katie explained that she thinks she’s not ovulating, but getting a doctor’s appointment has been a “really slow process”.
Doctors slammed in TikTok comments
In the comments, TikTok users are slamming the doctors for never investigating the lack of periods when she was younger.
One person wrote: “I’m literally in shock and awe that a doctor didn’t question at all why you had no period at 22… that’s crazy.”
“I can’t believe they never did an ultrasound,” said another.
A third person added: “I just can’t get over the amount of times you asked the doctor about your cycle and they just dismissed you.”
“Girl your doctors failed you. I’m so sorry,” someone else wrote.
Another said: “Doctors really need to take young peoples medical concerns more seriously. Especially young women’s.”
