‘Dino sized’ fries was our favorite McDonalds era, and we want it back
Once upon a time, the popular fast food chain McDonalds invented a new Dino sized fries, burger and drink as part of a marketing campaign to celebrate the first Jurassic Park film.
McDonalds is known to have some of the most unique (crazy) promotional tactics in the world of fast food. Just last year, they launched the berry-flavoured Grimace shake to celebrate the mascots birthday. Little did they know that TikTok would twist the trend, turning the innocent purple shake into something much darker.
Bring back the Dino fries
Unsurprisingly, promotional tactics over twenty years ago were even crazier than the ones flooding our screens now. Back in 1993, Steven Spielberg transported the populace back in time with his Jurassic Park film. The flick starred the likes of Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum and pondered the question, Would a theme park with dinosaurs work? Shocker, it didnt work and a lot of people died.
The first instalment was such a success that two more films were released. They remained as one of Hollywoods most beloved franchises until the recent release of Jurrasic World starring Chris Pratt. Needless to say, they werent as successful as their predecessors.

But, perhaps the new films were not successful because McDonalds didnt release an entirely new meal size in celebration of them. You see, as part of a collaboration between Universal Pictures and Maccies, hungry customers were encouraged to Dino size their meals.
In a TV advert from the time, a Dr. Alan Grant lookalike enters the park only to skip seeing the reptiles entirely. Instead, he made his way to the local McDonalds where he chomped down on a super-sized meal.
In Jurassic Park, the place to go to satisfy a tyrannosaurus-sized hunger is McDonalds where something big is happening to your favorite extra value meals: dino sizing, the voiceover said.
Alongside the meal, customers were given an iconic cup featuring one of the films most notable dinosaurs. These included the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Dilophosaurus, Triceratops, and, Velociraptor.
Following the launch, McDonalds reverted the phrasing back to Super-size, though that too was inevitably phased out as times changed.
Fans feel old at the dinosaur reminder
The advert of dino sized fries was recently uploaded to Facebook where fans remembered the time with fond memories, and undoubtedly hungry stomachs.
Seeing this makes me feel old, one person wrote in the comments, as another simply said, Classic.
Another said: Everything was better back then. McDonald’s is a depressed adult these days.”
