‘Diagnosed psychopath’s’ clever manipulation tactic that forces people to ‘let their guard down’
Psychopaths and others diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder are notorious for being extremely manipulative to always get what they want.
Numerous social media users with conditions such as psychopathy and narcissism are openly discussing various aspects of problematic personality types that people dread encountering. Hence awareness is key.

‘Diagnosed psychopath’ reveals her manipulative tactic
You can’t deal with a psychopath despite learning about their condition – that’s how insidious their tactics are. It’s a common perception that manipulators are great at hiding their true nature, but a TikTok user argues otherwise.
Vince Path claims to be officially diagnosed with the said mental health condition and identifies her as a psychopath. She dispels a lot of myths associated with people with her condition, including the popular notion that they aren’t overtly manipulative.
“My number one manipulation tactic is to tell people that I am manipulative,” she says, before explaining how the trick works in her favor every single time.
She argues telling people you’re manipulative establishes some level of trust, as they tend to think “Why would they tell me that they’re a manipulative person if they were going to manipulate me.”
This causes them to think that the manipulator would spare them, even though that’s not true and the same tactic is often used against them.
“They let their guard down because they are not expecting me to be manipulative towards them. They are expecting you to be manipulative towards other people,” explains Vic.
She further claims that the “magic trick” is mostly effective with men because they think they can’t be manipulated easily.
They are hard to diagnose
There is so much misconception and misinformation about psychopathy going around that people think they are easy to spot with specific facial features, such as the “killer stare”.
However, that holds true only in fiction, because people with antisocial personality disorder are hard to diagnose owing to their twisted mind games. They are capable of functioning like the rest of us.
The Focus spoke to a certified psychologist to better understand the characteristics of a psychopath, which isn’t defined by their appearance; it’s their behavior and lack of empathy that counts.
Psychologist Adam Horvath said, Lack of empathy is a core characteristic and explains why they may act without concern for others.
It’s equally tricky to know if you’re dealing with one because they often camouflage to co-exist with normal people. They can imitate normal behaviors, not only to avoid detection but to exploit others, the psychologist said.
People suffering from the problematic personality type lack genuine friendships and meaningful relationships because they see everyone as tools to be used – one sign you should watch out for.
