Coffee lovers hack for reusing Nespresso coffee pods is genius

If you are throwing away your Nespresso coffee pods after using them, you might be soon rummaging through the trash after learning that they can be reused.

Coffee has become a staple part of our lives, from the morning cup that gets us going and stops us from dying young, to the weekly trip to Starbucks to pick up the latest trendy beverage. Thanks to the wonders of technology, coffee-shop quality drinks can now be enjoyed in the comfort of your home.

You can reuse Nespresso coffee pods

Nespresso launched their first at-home coffee machine back in 1996 in a move that changed the coffee landscape forever. Though the company has continued to innovate with new products each year, they are also forced to compete with countless other brands like Philips, Sage, and Swan.

While most love enjoying a coffee at home, even if it contains bugs, some find themselves spending a staggering amount of money on coffee pods.

On the Nespresso site, where most 10-packs of pods are sold for $12.50, customers could find themselves spending upwards of $50 a month on caffeine. Don’t fret though, TikTok content creator Devin (@Devinraimo) has found a fix.

Taking to the video-sharing app in late June, Devin explained: “So my life completely changed when I found out that you can open up your used Nespresso pod.”

Using a sharp knife, Devin cut around the pop and emptied the used coffee grounds. She then refilled it with her own coffee before resealing the pod with a foil seal from MyCap. The Nespresso coffee pods can then be reused.

A quick look on MyCap’s site confirms that the company makes foil hats specifically for coffee machines. They also have fixes for Tassimo, Keurig, and a range of other brewers.

If you want an even easier fix, then head over to Amazon where the retailer sells their own version.

Despite the products being designed specifically for a Nespresso machine, many TikTok users claimed her machine “would soon break.”

Outside of the haters, one person suggested: “If you want the best results, measure out your coffee 1:2 ratio with the water, try and get it as evenly packed into the pod as possible otherwise it might end up really sour or really bitter xx.”

“You have to put the exact amount and tamp it with the right amount of force to get the flow going properly,” another wrote.

A third said: “I’m about to do this because it’s literally an entire expense to order Nespresso pods every couple of months.”
