Clever trick to quickly scroll between open apps on your iPhone is blowing people’s minds
You use your iPhone for hours every day, but there are loads of clever little tricks that you didn’t know it could do.
People are having their minds blown this week after discovering a smart feature that lets you speedily scroll between open apps.
Scroll between open apps on your iPhone
Click on any app on your iPhone right now and look at the bottom of the screen. You see that dark line in the middle – have you ever wondered what it does?
Well, if you swipe left or right on the line it will move between the apps you have open so you can navigate between them. For example, if you’re scrolling on Instagram and quickly want to search for something online, you can swipe through to your open Safari tab.
You don’t have to swipe up, scroll through the open tabs in the App Switcher and click on the one you want, you can just swipe between them in seconds! It makes moving between apps on your device so much easier.
“To quickly switch between open apps on an iPhone with Face�ID, swipe right or left along the bottom edge of the screen,” Apple says.
The iPhone trick has gone viral this month after a woman shared a video explaining it on TikTok, saying: “Dude did you guys freaking know that the line at the bottom of your phone is a scroll bar?”
“So you don’t need to swipe up and scroll through your tabs. You can just slide at the bottom,” she continued before slapping her hand over her mouth in complete and utter shock.
‘Thank you for your service. Mind blown’
Many are only just discovering the Apple trick from the video and are sharing their surprise in the comments.
One person wrote: “Jaw dropped, just tried it right now.”
“Thank you for your service. Mind blown,” said another.
A third person added: “Omg& life changed!”
However, others have been using the swipe feature for years and can’t believe that others didn’t know about it.
“I thought we all knew this,” someone else said.
Another added: “Girl this has been here FOR SO LONGGG.”
“People didnt know this? I do this religiously,” another person commented.
The bar was actually introduced with the iPhone X which was released in 2017, seven whole years ago! So, the quick switching between apps isn’t a new feature at all. However, it’s still changing people’s lives almost a decade on.
