Chicago man seeks $75 million in damages after his ‘local dating life’ gets called out on Facebook

A Chicago man is reportedly suing over a post shared on the Facebook group, Are We Dating the Same Guy, and seeking $75 million in damages by claiming the comments directed at him were ill-intended.

The group was put in place with the intention of “protecting” women in the age of online dating, but has been criticized by Nikko DAmbrosio for allegedly tainting his image with false accusations that stem from different dating experiences. He is reportedly suing more than 50 people and companies.

Man sues over Are We Dating the Same Guy Facebook post

In the complaint, filed in District Court in Chicago, Nikko has accused multiple people of ruining his reputation with demeaning remarks and claims he’s been subject to defamation, emotional distress and more.

The comments under the post featuring his picture and details had remarks that described him as “very clingy”, as some women claimed he had “ghosted” them after sleeping with them.

The screenshots posted on the Facebook group said his pictures had been shared on the group before and he had a reputation for allegedly calling women names when they refused to sleep with him.

Nikko reportedly defended himself by saying that he and the woman who initially posted about him on the Facebook group met at an event in Chicago. They chatted briefly before indulging in consensual sex. They met again over a handful of dates, but “never engaged in an exclusive dating relationship.

Online community is intended to protect women and men

Although the group is intended to help women look out for one another, the complaint alleges that the woman named therein lied “maliciously” causing “stress, anxiety, and unspecified lost earnings” for Nikko.

According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, he’s suing: “27 named women, a group of unidentified Jane Does, one man, 20 different parts of the Facebook corporation Meta, Patreon, GoFundMe, and the website arewedatingthesame.com.”

The Facebook group provides a platform for users to share details about people they are dating or intend to date, so fellow users can share their opinions about the person should they know them.

Nikko’s attorneys have reportedly denied he sent “harassing” texts to women that were later circulated on Facebook. They added that, even if their client sent the messages, they would be “protected under the First Amendment as free speech.”
