Carrot Top recently appeared on the Joe Rogan Experience, with the pair discussing how “jacked” he looked about 15 years ago. The comedian spilled the deets on how he achieved the physique that ignited fake rumours and speculation on how he achieved his frame.
It’s the new year, a time when everyone sets their resolution to improve their health and fitness.
During his visit to Joe Rogan’s podcast, 56-year-old comedian Carrot Top briefly touched on the workout routine that led to him developing bulging muscles about 15 years ago. Photos of his younger days still circulate the internet, with forums debating how he got so pumped.
And if you’re thinking he did it by plastic surgery or some other unnatural method, he quashed those rumours in 2015 while speaking to Florida Today. Let’s delve deeper…

Carrot Top talks getting jacked
Carrot Top, real name Scott Thompson, graced the podcast with his hilarious wit as he shared details about his career and a run-in with musician and KISS legend Gene Simmons.
Fans became interested in his work-out routine after Rogan labelled Carrot Top’s past physique as “giant”. And Thompson was happy to reveal his secrets.
“When I got that permanent gig (Vegas residency), I had nothing to do all day in Vegas so I just started going to the gym every day. Like, I’d got three hours a day literally.
“Well this is again, 15 years ago right, and I was huge.”
At the time, he was 190lb but he was originally 140lb and has now slimmed back down to that weight.
There you have it, nothing but sweat, dedication and huge amounts of free time shot him to his ripped body.
It didn’t come without consequences though. Carrot Top admitted he suffered from joint pains and was always injured because of all the gym work. On top of that, it interfered with his work since it “didn’t look good on stage”.
He’s all natural!
When a celebrity’s body changes, it will always come with speculation about plastic surgery or steroids.
In Carrot Top’s case, he faced both situations when he was snapped with bulging deltoids and trolls accused him of inserting implants to create the look. Would you believe some Redditors even commented on the appearance of his nipples?!
In a 2015 interview with Florida Today, Carrot Top said plastic surgery rumours were among the most ridiculous gossip he’d heard about himself.
He said: “It all started when I did a Comedy Central Roast. I have mellowed out now, but for a while I had gotten really big. I didn’t do steroids or anything, I just worked out a lot, and I never had any plastic surgery.
“I can see why people would think that since I got really big for a while, but I never had any work done. I mean, if I was going to have plastic surgery, I would look better than this!”
Even the pandemic didn’t stop Carrot Top from working out – he continued the gym life at home in 2020. Give the guy some credit!
