Brit reveals two American foods that look disgusting but ‘actually taste good’
A British man has gone viral on TikTok after revealing two foods you can get in America that look disgusting, but are actually really nice.
The country has popularised some of the world’s most popular foods, from cheeseburgers to fried chicken, but not all of their dishes are so appetizing.
American foods that ‘actually taste good’
Josh is a British man who has lived in the US and shares videos comparing the two countries. He said the first strange dish that ‘only exists in America’ is Biscuits and Gravy.
“This right here might look like vomit right, but it’s called Biscuits and Gravy and let me tell you it is a staple American delicacy,” he said.
He even went as far as to call the popular breakfast dish “one of the greatest meals” he has ever tried in the US.
Originating from the South, biscuits and gravy consists of soft dough biscuits covered in a white ‘gravy’.
The sauce is made from the drippings of cooked pork sausage, flour, milk, and bits of sausage, bacon, ground beef, or other meat.
The second thing is a little more obscure, and certainly not for everyone – a dish called Rocky Mountain Oysters.
It was created by ranchers in the Rocky Mountain region, in Northwest America and Canada, and consists of deep-fried Bull testicles. Yes, really.
“It’s gonna absolutely destroy me for saying this, but it actually tastes good,” the TikTok user said. “I’ve tried Rocky Mountain Oysters.”
He revealed that he was hesitant and apprehensive about tasting the dish, but repeated “genuinely it actually tastes good”.
Many Americans are applauding Josh for trying the disgusting food, saying even they aren’t brave enough.
Americans list other strange dishes
In the TikTok comments, people from the US are listing some other bizarre foods that you can get across the country.
“If you like Rocky Mountain Oysters you’d love gizzards,” someone said – which is the deep-fried stomach of a chicken.
Another suggested “Gator Bites” which as the name clearly states, are deep-fried pieces of alligator meat.
Moving away from strange meat products, someone else said he needs to try Fluffernutter, a sandwich made with peanut butter and marshmallow creme.
Some others include a porridge-like dish called Gritz, turkey testicles aka Turkey Fries and Tenderloin Biscuits.
