Women goes on honeymoon alone
The 27-year-old, who goes by Murph on TikTok, is filming her trip because “grief can be extremely isolating” and she hopes her videos will help at least one other person who has been through something similar.
“My fianc died a month before our wedding and now I’m going on our honeymoon alone to see if life is worth living,” she said while travelling from Canada to London. “I also just don’t care about anything anymore.”
In a second video, she filmed the first day of the trip, starting off by drinking a latte and checking into her hotel room. The reality of grief then kicked in as she remembered her husband should be there, a feeling that so many can relate to.
“As soon as I walked into the room it really hit me that Devin is not here with me and then I had to crawl into bed and nap for hours,” she gut-wrenchingly said.
The woman woke up at 5pm and watched some true crime while she got ready to go out and explore London for the evening. There, she got a drink at a pub and grabbed got some dinner at Wingstop before walking back to her hotel.
‘This is one of the bravest things’
The TikTok user plans to continue sharing daily videos of her solo honeymoon and her clips have been met with so much love.
Many women who live in London are offering their company and comfort, asking if she wants to meet for coffee or dinner so that she isn’t alone.
Others are simply inspired by her bravery, with one person writing: “This is one of the bravest things Ive ever seen. You are feeling your pain, which a lot of us arent able to do. Im wishing you healing & peace.”
“Were all behind you. Thank you for sharing your story. Sending so much love and hope and happiness,” said another.
A third person added: “Im so sorry. You did so well and I love that you documented it so we can all celebrate your bravery with you.”
The TikTok user said she is “completely overwhelmed” by all of the love and added that reading all the lovely comments has made her feel so much less alone in her grief.
Grief is different for everyone so it’s important to listen to your own body, do what feels right and remember that you are not alone.
If you recently lost someone, you may feel shock, numbness, overwhelming sadness, tiredness, exhaustion, anger and guilt, the NHS explains. These are all very normal emotions and there is no right or wrong way to feel.
Try talking about your feelings to a friend, family member, health professional or counsellor and don’t do everything at once. Set small targets that you can easily achieve while focusing your time and energy on helping yourself feel better, not the things you can’t change.
