Botanical gardens and axe throwing become top first date spots as singles do away with awkward bar dates

Single pringles are doing away with awkward bar encounters for more intimate first dates at locations like the botanical gardens and axe throwing.

If you’ve finally managed to bag a match after scrolling through the many available dating apps, your next decision might be your first date location. Once decided, be sure to look out for first-date red flags that are said to include dwelling on past relationships and the controversial act of love bombing. If all else fails, Tinder is easily downloadable.

According to the latest Google Trends report, searches for first-date ideas have been on the uptick with a special interest in botanical gardens.

Unlike garden centers that seek to make a profit, botanical gardens are tourist locations that look to educate their visitors. They often house rare or unusual plants from across the world, usually contained within enormous greenhouses to maintain temperature.

But why are single Americans so interested in botanical gardens for first dates, especially over traditional picks like the cinema, a bar, or a picnic?

There is an undeniable romanticism to strolling through a beautiful jungle with your date, though most Americans can’t experience this without flying to a rainforest. But that’s where botanical gardens come in.

Dating app Bumble recommends a botanical garden first date, suggesting it strikes the perfect balance between activity and connection with your potential partner. Being around and touching plants is also proven to improve mental health.

Or you could try axe-throwing

For those who seek out some adventure during their first dates, Google Trends also recognized an increased interest in axe throwing. Much like the strange fridgescaping trend, axe throwing has taken off in recent years thanks to its prominence on social media.

There are now dedicated bars and establishments that focus not just on axe throwing, but on throwing and breaking other things too.

Axe throwing is significantly more unique than dragging your date to a bar for awkward exchanges about childhood pets and favorite colors, with the added extra of seeing your partner’s physical prowess.

Much like botanical gardens, those who enjoy axe throwing have claimed it’s great for relieving stress and blowing off steam in a healthy manner.
