Americans feel safer after learning how ChatGPT plans to kill AI in Terminator-style situation

Though the rise of artificial intelligence has shaken some people, OpenAI’s Sam Altman has put some minds at ease with what he calls his “nuclear backpack.”

Despite being relatively new in the world of technology, artificial intelligence has made legions of fans and just as many enemies. Some love AI capabilities like the recent personalized vaccine, while others can’t help but think of the worst-case scenario. Either way, it looks like AI is here to stay.

OpenAI’s Sam Altman has thought of everything

TikTok’s Grace (@grace.mitscherlich), who often posts videos centered around a particular topic or fun fact, recently delved into the safety of artificial intelligence with her 2.2 million followers.

In the clip, she responded to fears that AI would one day decide to kill us all. That fact should not be particularly shocking given the numerous instances where AI has freaked us out.

“If you’ve ever seen a picture of him, then you’ll remember always seeing him with a blue backpack,” she said, showing numerous images of Sam Altman and his blue bag. “There is something very special about this backpack. He calls it his nuclear backpack.”

Grace continued to explain that the nuclear backpack is actually a kill switch for Altman’s OpenAI, which you might know operates ChatGPT. You might remember that ChatGPT is responsible for faking everything from college papers to robot boyfriends.

Grace continued: “This blue backpack, or the stuff inside of it, will detonate all of OpenAI and ChatGPT. Specifically, it will get rid of the data center.

“It’s for if OpenAI or ChatGPT starts having a mind of its own, and being controlling, and not doing what it was designed to do.”

TikTok users are betting on AI

Though Sam Altman’s nuclear backpack seems to be the solution people have been asking for, at least where OpenAI is concerned, TikTok users have watched enough robot revolt films to know it only ends one way.

In the comments, numerous people argued that the AI would already be aware of the backpack since it’s spoken about so openly. As such, is it really a threat?

“Wouldnt the AI have that info in the database so it would already know your plan and devise a way to counter it,” one person said.

“I hope theres a second backpack that we dont know about just in case it doesnt work or something happens to it,” another questioned, as someone else said, “If movies have told us anything they will wait too long to do it and AI will have been too smart by then and it wont do squat..”
