American woman finds out British way of making hot cocoa is ‘worlds better’ after 25 years

From words to humor and food, Americans and Brits have very different ways of doing things despite speaking the same language.

Another thing they can’t agree on is how to make a hot cocoa, but an American woman has just realised the British way is “drastically better”.

Different ways of making hot cocoa

“I’m baffled. Who’s right, me or my British husband?” the American lady, known as Yorkshire Peach, said on TikTok.

She explained that her husband went to make them both a hot chocolate and she walked in to find him stirring a pot on the stove while slowly adding in milk a little at a time.

“Sorry? You what?” she said in disbelief before revealing what she believes is the correct way of making hot cocoa.

“First of all no milk, just water. Pop it in a cup and put it in the microwave,” she said. “Who’s doing milk on the stove? What year is it?”

British way is ‘drastically better’

She decided to make one cup the British way and another cup the American way and do the ultimate test.

“I’m going to do my microwave version and his stove version with milk and see whose is better. It’s gotta be mine,” she continued.

She placed them side by side and tried her version first, saying: “Delicious. That’s what I’m used to.”

Then, it was time to try the hot cocoa made with milk on the stove and she couldn’t believe how good it was.

“That is drastically better,” she said while laughing. “Yeah, so I’ve been doing that wrong for approximately 25 years.”

The TikTok user said the British version is “worlds better” and added that it doesn’t even taste like the same drink.

‘Youre wrong babe sorry’

In the comments, everyone is agreeing that her way of making hot cocoa is totally wrong.

One person wrote: “Youre wrong babe sorry milk on the stove is top tier!”

“WHO ON EARTH DRINKS A HOT CHOCOLATE WITH WATER!!!???” said another in disgust.

A third person added: “Hot chocolate with water tastes like someone drunk hot chocolate and then spit it in a cup.”

“Serve me hot chocolate with water and you’re getting handed back to you and told to make it properly,” someone else said.
