American tries UK McDonald’s for the first time and notices one key difference
As the biggest fast-food chain in the world, McDonalds is something everyone will have had at some point in their lives but as an American TikToker recently discovered, different countries do McDonalds slightly differently.
Kalani Smith, known online as Kalani Ghost Hunter, has recently been reviewing his food experiences on TikTok during his first-ever trip to the United Kingdom and one video, which has since gone viral with more than 1.5 million views, sees him trying UK McDonalds first the first time.
The biggest difference between UK and US McDonalds
Kalani, who has more than 2.8 million followers on TikTok, uses his channel for a unique combination of food reviews and ghost-hunting videos.
The TikToker is currently visiting the United Kingdom where he is taking suggestions from viewers on what restaurants to visit and while in Liverpool, he stopped off at a McDonalds where he discovered a key difference between US and UK versions of the fast-food franchise, the menu.
While long-standing favorites like the Big Mac and Quarter Pounder with Cheese are still available, Kalani tried several items that Americans will be unfamiliar with including a Steakhouse Stack, Garlic Cheesy Bites, a Chicken Fajita Wrap and a Galaxy Caramel Pie.
First up of these unfamiliar items was the Steakhouse Stack, a seasonal burger that is only available for a limited time which includes two 100% beef patties, cheddar cheese, peppercorn sauce as well as lettuce and onions that actually look fresh Kalani said.

Giving the burger a nod of approval, the TikToker added: It tastes really good. For a McDonalds hamburger, this is really good.
Moving on to the Garlic Cheesy Bites, trying them with curry sauce, Kalani said theyre pretty good and that the curry sauce be curryin.
An item Kalani was particularly excited to try was the Chicken Fajita Wrap and he was left suitably impressed, saying that it tastes better than Taco Bell by 10,000 to one.
The final UK item that the TikToker tried was a Galaxy Caramel Pie, similar to a traditional McDonalds Apple Pie except its filled with chocolatey caramel sauce.
Oh my, Kalani said after taking a bite. That thing is freaking good.
How items available in both countries compare
During the video, Kalani also tried two items that are available in both the US and the UK, a Quarter Pounder with Cheese and McDonald’s’s signature fries alongside a barbecue dip.
Ive had a ton of these in my lifetime, the TikToker said as he prepared to taste the Quarter Pounder. That tastes really close to the one at home, the patty may be a little bit different but [its] pretty close.
When trying the barbecue dip, Kalani said the sauce tastes more like home while the fries are like the same consistency and texture but I think these are cooked in a different oil than the ones at home.
