Almost a fifth of the US’s Starbucks stores are in one state
Have you ever wondered which state has the most Starbucks stores? Well, there’s one that’s way out in front.
As of January 2024, the coffee chain has a staggering 16,386 stores across the US, and one state contains almost a fifth of them.

State with the most Starbucks
The state that has the most Starbucks stores is California, with a staggering 3,101 at the time of writing this, Scrape Hero reveals.
That means 19% of all Starbucks locations in the US are situated in a 900 mile radius from San Diego to San Francisco – a store for every 12,742 people.
Considering the US is the third largest country in the world at almost 10 million kilometres squared, thats a lot of Starbucks in such a small area.
After California, the next most is Texas at 1,391 (8%) followed by Florida at 882 (5%) and Washington with 745 (5%), which is where the chain was founded.
Starbucks began in 1971, when three friends Jerry Baldwin,Gordon Bowker, andZev Siegl, opened the first store near Seattle’s historic Pike Place Marke.

California stat shocks social media
The statistic went viral on TikTok this week where many are in complete shock, with one person writing: California has HOW MANY??????
California wow thats wild, someone else commented.
However, people who live in California arent surprised at all. Someone said: I live in california and I can confirm theres three Starbucks on one street.
I live in CA & I am SHOCKED that other states have so few Starbucks. We have SO MANY! I know of several places in my small town where there are 2 in one shopping centre, said another.
A third person added: I live in Cali and there are 4 Starbucks in my 1 shopping center. 1 in target, 1 at Barnes and noble, 1 stand alone one and last 1 in Albertson’s.
