Adopted British soldier finally reunited with his biological family after 53 years
The story of an adopted British soldier who recently found his biological family has captured everyone’s hearts.
Mark Balls was given up by this mother and adopted as a baby, and they’ve finally been reuinted this month after 53 years.

Adopted soldier reunited with family
The former British soldier lives in Paderborn, Germany, and made a wish on his 50th birthday to find and meet his biological mother.
His daughter Amanda gifted him a MyHeritage DNA test, which helps people discover relatives through their DNA.
Mark’s wish came true three years later, when the DNA test linked him to a cousin in Greece, which then led to him finding his family.
For his whole life, he had no idea why he had been given up, but finally found out that his mother Phyllis gave birth to him when she was just 18.
Living in Hampstead, London, she feared being judged by her family so kept the entire pregnancy a secret from everyone.
When he was born, she gave Mark up for adoption to an Irish family who lived less than 30 minutes away, and they brought him up.
Reunion goes viral on TikTok
Phyllis, who went on to have two more children with Mark’s father, lives in Limerick, Ireland, and he recently went to meet her for the first time.
The reunion was filmed by Mark’s daughter Amanda, who shared the video on TikTok where it’s racked up almost a million views.
“Your dad was adopted and after 53 years he finds his birth mum. Now you’re flying to Ireland to meet her and his two full brothers,” she wrote.
Amanda shared a second video of the mother and son walking hand in hand and added: “Not a happy ending, more like a happy beginning.”
A third clip shows Mark meeting his two brothers Jason and James, and they embrace as if they have known each other for years.
After meeting, his mother found out that she has six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Mark discovered his father passed away a decade ago.
That will put a smile on your face today!
