When asked what his one piece of advice would be, the 96-year-old told people to stop thinking about the past and start living in the present.
“I don’t like going back because there’s nothing you can do about the past,” he said. “I would say accept where you are at and move on and try and be in the present.”
“If you can change it, okay, but there are some things that you need to accept that you can’t change, and if you can’t change it, let it go.”
The elderly man told everyone to have gratitude for everything you have, always act with compassion and accept what is happening.
He also said that no matter what, you should always be yourself, and then other people will like you.
“This is why we must honor our elders. We have so much to learn from them. They have wisdom and a sense of calm thats healing,” one person commented.
Another said: “Such beautiful wisdom! I am sure that he has many stories behind all those wise words.”

How to live in the present
Being present is all about being fully engaged and aware of your environment, body, and mind, rather than constantly thinking about the past or worrying about the future. Also often referred to as mindfulness, it can have a number of benefits, Calm explains.
It can help to improve relationships by nurturing richer, more meaningful connections, and reduce stress from overthinking. On top of that, living in the present can enhance focus, boost emotional intelligence and give you a stronger appreciation of yourself and life.
There are many things that can help you be more present in your life including regular breathing exercises, reducing your screen time, physical activity, journaling, meditation, spending time with nature and being creative.
Another great way to bring your mind back to the present is by grounding, a therapeutic technique that helps you gain distance from your thoughts, feelings and memories and brings you back to your surroundings.
The 5-4-3-2-1 grounding exercise is popular, which involves naming five things you can see around you, four things you can touch or feel, three sounds you can hear, two things you can smell and one thing you can taste.
