93-year-old’s advice to his younger self
The elderly man was stopped by TikTok user Yair Brachiyahu, who interviews people on the street and asks them to share life advice.
“If you could go back in time and have a conversation with your younger self, what advice would you give him?” he asked.
The 93-year-old replied: “Have fun, enjoy yourself and enjoy the years because eventually they go by.”
“When you’re young you never think you’re going to be old, but it happens somehow, someway,” he continued.
With the mundane routines of everyday life, it’s easy to forget how precious and short life is. The days sometimes feel long but the years move by incredibly fast, so it’s important to appreciate every moment.
His secret to looking so great
The interviewer also asked what his secret is to looking so great at 93 years of age, and he gave a list of activities. Walking, reading and watching television are some of the things that keep him feeling young, but he said the “biggest thing” is exercise.
“You have to find something you do,” he continued, suggesting that having a hobby or passion is also really important.
Physical activity can reduce your risk of dying from some of the leading causes of death including heart disease and certain cancers, MedlinePlus explains.
It strengthens your heart and improves your circulation. This increased blood flow raises the oxygen levels in your body which helps lower your risk of heart disease and can also lower high blood pressure and cholesterol.
Regular exercise can also reduce your risk of some cancers including colon, breast, uterine, bladder, kidney, stomach and lung.
It can have loads of other benefits as you age too including keeping your thinking, learning, and judgment skills sharp, strengthening your bones and muscles, reducing your risk of falls and improving your sleep.
