77-year-old says his ‘biggest mistake’ in life is not letting people take pictures of him
As you go through life, it’s easy to look back and think about things you wish you had done differently.
A 77-year-old was asked what his biggest mistake is, and his answer will have you getting out your camera more.

77-year-old’s biggest mistake is not taking pictures
The man was stopped by Instagram user Miles Fog who interviews people on the street about their life advice.
“What would you say is a big mistake that you made early on that you learned a valuable lesson from?” he asked.
The 77-year-old said his answer is “simple” – he didn’t take enough photos of himself or let people take pictures of him.

His kids will often ask if he has any pictures of certain experiences or moments of his life, and he has to sadly decline.
The man always hated people taking photos of him but decided to “give that idea up” as he got older and embrace the camera.
‘Don’t try to pose’ when someone is taking a photo
He then gave an eye-opening piece of advice that we all need to listen to when someone is taking a photo of us.
“When you take a picture, be who you want to be in that moment. Don’t try to pose. Just be you,” he said.
The man explained that the pictures of his son being himself and pulling funny faces rather than posing are the “most gratifying”.
“It gets me in touch with me soul. I like that. Just being normal. Being natural.”
People are inspired by his message in the comments, with one person writing: “I needed to hear this. Because I do the same thing. I never let anyone take my picture because I don’t think I look good enough. But it’s about more than that. Thank you.”
“I regret not taking pictures in high because I was so insecure about my appearance. It makes me sad when I look through my yearbook and can barely find pictures of myself I regret it so badly,” said another.
In a world obsessed with body image, it’s difficult to not be self-critical of your appearance in photos, but it’s important to look past that. A picture isn’t about looking good, it’s capturing an occasion, a moment, a snapshot of life that you and your loved ones will one day look back on with pride.
One day, photos will be all you have left to remember a person. Another woman sadly commented that her husband never liked taking pictures and now he’s passed away, she only has a handful of their 27 years together to remember him by.
“Pictures are not for good hair days and cute outfits pictures are for documentation of life and passing on memories,” someone else added.
Just take that photo!
