7 trendy things that are huge in the US but ‘don’t really exist’ in Europe
From fashion to drinks and sports, there are all kinds of trends that are big in the US but aren’t really a thing in Europe.
A woman who recently moved from America to Germany has taken to TikTok to explain some of the differences she’s experienced.

US trends that ‘don’t really exist’ in Europe
“Trendy things in the States that don’t really exist in Europe,” Sarah Bross said. “After living abroad in Germany, here are some things I noticed.”
1. Big hoodies and t-shirts
People in the US love to wear huge, oversized t-shirts and hoodies, but you don’t really see it in Europe at all.
2. Athleisure when not exercising
Another fashion trend that’s big in America is wearing bright-colored athleisure when you’re not actually exercising, but you wouldn’t see someone wearing LuLuLemon for lunch in Germany.
3. Bright colored Hokas
The in-shoe across the States right now is bright Hokas, a running shoe brand that was born in the French Alps. People do wear them in Europe, but only while exercising and not vibrant ones.
4. Stanley Cups
American girls are obsessed with Stanley Cups, the big insulated water bottles with a handle. Some people do have them in Europe, but they don’t walk around the street with them.
5. Probiotic sodas
Another huge trend in the US right now is probiotic sodas like Olipop which are designed to help your gut, but they haven’t made their way across the pond yet.
6. Pickleball
Pickleball is also blowing up in the States right now but not elsewhere. It’s a tennis-like sportwhere two or four players use a smooth-faced paddle to hit a hollow plastic ball over a 34-inch-high net.
7. Amazon influencers
Finally, new trend is rising that sees thousands of influencers earning affiliate commissions from Amazon for various products, but in Europe it’s all about Instagram.
Overall, she said Germany was far less focused on consumerism, which was one of the things she loved most.
In another video, the TikTok user said some other things that aren’t as popular in Europe are belt bags, New Balance trainers, bright nail art, caps and destination sweatshirts.
