5 signs your dog or cat might have seen a ghost, from a pet wellness expert
As Halloween approaches, some ghosts and ghouls could be coming out to play, and your pet would probably be the first to notice it.
While it can’t be proven by science, some believe that animals have a sixth sense which allows them to see the paranormal, and an expert has shared some signs your dog or cat is one of them.

5 signs your dog or cat could have seen a ghost
Animal Wellbeing Specialist Catrin George says there is some strange behavior to watch out for that could hint at an extra presence in your home.
“Some people believe that animals having a sixth sense is an old wives tale, some believe wholeheartedly that our pets can see ghosts, well truly never 100% know what the case is, but whatever you believe, it goes without saying that our furry friends can be more intuitive than they get credit for,” she said.
1. Following something invisible
Firstly, if your pet is following something you can’t see, there could be a ghost. Perhaps they’re sitting still but their eyes are tracing across the room, or they quickly get up and start following something with their nose. It could just be a bug or piece of dust blowing across your lounge… but you never know.
2. Barking at something you can’t see
Another sign something paranormal might be going on is your dog or cat hissing at something that isn’t there. Animals have much better hearing than us and can hear much higher frequencies, so they could be barking at something far in the distance, or maybe they’ve spotted something spooky in the room.
3. Coming to you for comfort
If your pet suddenly comes over for comfort and seems to be acting strange over nothing, there could be a ghoul in town. Nestling up to you, hiding behind you or trying to protect you are all signs that they’ve spotted something to be fearful of. If you can’t work out the cause, perhaps there’s an extra presence.

4. Getting easily distracted
If your dog or cat is getting easily distracted, like there’s someone else in the room with you, then maybe there is. Most of the time, they can probably hear a car door slamming in the next street or smell someone cooking up a nice dinner next door… or perhaps a spirit is grabbing their attention instead.
5. Behaving like they’re being praised
Finally, a pet that’s acting like it’s being praised when it’s not is enough to send a shiver down your spine. They could be rolling onto their back like they are getting a belly rub from an invisible phantom, or wagging their tail like someone new just walked through the door.
