11 signs you’re an old person trapped in a young person’s body
The prospect of getting old can be a daunting one for many but if youre anything like my girlfriend and I, then youre well on your way to accepting a life of gray hair, aching joints and getting angry at the kids playing on your lawn.
Despite both of us being in our mid-20s, its become something of a running gag between us to point out whenever each of us does anything that is often thought of as an old person stereotype and weve slowly come to realize that we might both just be an old person trapped in a young persons body.
1. Preferring nights in over nights out
This – and several entries in this list – may also apply to people who are quite introverted in general but a night spent on the couch, curled up under a blanket and watching your favorite TV shows appeals more than a night out in a club thats blaring loud music.

2. Finding socializing exhausting
When you do actually socialize, you find that the experience drains the life out of you and you’re often ready to head home much earlier than your friends.
3. In bed before 10pm and NO LATER
Getting your eight hours of sleep is important regardless but when youre an old person trapped in a young persons body, staying up any later becomes almost impossible. The prospect of a late night even has the potential to cause anxiety as you find yourself calculating how much sleep youre losing by not going to bed on time.
4. Comfy clothes over style
When the idea of throwing on an Oodie the second you get home appeals more than wearing a stylish dress for a night out, then you know that your days of glamor are over. And high heels, pffft, forget em.
5. Dreaming of taking a hot Thermos flask to a freezing sports game
Growing up, I used to secretly sneer at old people who took a Thermos flask of hot tea or coffee to a football game, now I envy them as I sit there shivering in the middle of winter.

7. Getting excited over grown-up gadgets
Forget the latest model of iPhone or toys that you would have loved as a child, give us a new cooking appliance, cleaning tool or a set of extendable shelves from IKEA and you have our attention.
8. Dishwasher safe mugs
The joy of realizing that you have less washing up to do by hand is unrivaled.
9. Starting to hate new music
If you find yourself recoiling at the modern songs played on the radio and longing for the music you grew up with or from your parents era, welcome to the club.

11. Prepared for every situation
Are you the one friend who always brings a bag on a trip out and is ready to combat any emergency with painkillers, band-aids, a bottle of water and an extra sweater? Congratulations, youre officially an old person trapped in a young persons body.
