1 in 3 Americans have conditions that increase risk of heart disease, but they can reverse it
Several critical illnesses can be prevented by taking care of certain health conditions that lead to them. Sadly, 1 in 3 Americans have these symptoms.
A sedentary lifestyle and unhealthy diets are the major culprits of chronic diseases. Although the cluster of conditions is common among Americans, a study has found an achievable solution.

1 in 3 Americans has a dysfunctional metabolism
Metabolism is a series of chemical reactions in the cells to convert everything we eat and drink into energy.
Any issues with this manifest into conditions such as diabetes, elevated, blood pressure, and excess body or abdominal fat among other symptoms.
A study led by Salk Institute found that more than one-third of adults in the U.S. have metabolic syndrome – a cluster of conditions that increase a person’s risk of diseases such as heart-related issues, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and others.
Expressing concern about a large population suffering from the said symptoms, co-corresponding author Pam Taub, said:
“For many patients, metabolic syndrome is the tipping point that leads to serious and chronic diseases like diabetes and heart disease.”
“There is an urgent need for more effective lifestyle interventions that are accessible, affordable, and sustainable for the average American.”
The researchers blame the “Western diets” high in sugar, salt, and fat alongside a sedentary lifestyle for metabolic dysfunction.
Popular diet has shown promising results
If you’re struggling to hit the gym daily or restricting your calories to achieve a healthy weight which is important to prevent metabolic dysfunction, time-restricted eating or intermittent fasting is found to be highly effective.
Fellow author of the study, Satchidananda Panda, said that our bodies process sugar and fats differently depending on the time of the day. That’s why women tend to burn more fat after breakfast than men.
“In time-restricted eating, we are re-engaging the body’s natural wisdom and harnessing its daily rhythms to restore metabolism and improve health,” he said.
Intermittent dating is easy to follow for any average healthy human and it costs nothing. The diet involves eating during specific hours of the day, such as starting an hour after waking up and stopping three hours before sleep, while fasting the rest of the time.
Several health experts and researchers swear by the result of intermittent fasting, which can also fix metabolic dysfunction and reduce body weight.
Furthermore, you don’t have to worry about watching what you eat or counting calories as long as you stick to your fasting cycle.
