Defence attorney and CNN and MSNBC legal analyst Midwin Charles died yesterday, her family announced via her Twitter and Instagram accounts. Given the circumstances, people are wondering whether or not Charles had covid-19 before she died, and if it was her cause of death. Did Midwin Charles have covid-19?

Did Midwin Charles have covid-19?

Before her untimely death, Midwin Charles’ last Instagram post was on 19 March. Without giving too much away, Charles cancelled that night’s show, saying she was “not feeling well”.

The post received over 500 likes and numerous comments wishing her well. One of the comments, however, dated two weeks ago, reads: “Get well soon. Check for covid.”

Over on Twitter, users have raised the possibility that Midwin Charles had caught covid-19 in the weeks preceding her death.

One user even asserted it as fact, but without providing any evidence.

Tributes via Instagram and Twitter

Among the flood of condolences, sympathies and tributes on Charles’ family’s Instagram post, one user said that it was Midwin’s show that convinced them to take the covid-19 vaccine.

“She brought black doctors on who broke it down and made me listen to the science.”

Elsewhere, friends and fans have expressed their sympathies for Midwin’s family. Tributes describe her variously as “a light in every room she entered”, “a kind soul” and “brilliant beautiful legal mind”.

However, the original post does not reveal Midwin Charles’ cause of death.

Therefore any claims that she died of covid-19 have to be read as conjecture at this stage.
