What to expect from the Gotham Knights game coming in 2021

Fans have been waiting for a new Batman game for a long time now. Warner Bros. had been teasing that a game is in development for almost more than a year, and we finally have the official announcement for the next Batman game, Gotham Knights.

The trailer reveals significant chunks of information about the upcoming game. Most remarkable of all is that Batman won’t be a playable character in the game because Bruce Wayne is apparently dead. Considering the fact that rumours had earlier suggested the game to be a Arkham reboot, it will likely proceed with things from there.

The playable characters will include the likes of Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin. They will be protecting Gotham City from the Court of Owls, which is one of the most critically acclaimed storylines in the DC Universe. The characters are voiced by some of leading voice actors such as Christopher Sean and Stephen Oyoung.

Despite the similarities, the gameplay of Gotham Knights has a number of differences to that of the previous Batman games. Arguably, most worrying of all is the presence of the damage numbers. It is not something which is characteristic of the vaunted Arkham games. Not to forget, the formula is pretty monotonous at this point.

From the initial reveal, it seems like the game will indeed be featuring multiplayer. However, there is not much known about it yet.

The game is rumoured to have a shared DC Universe with Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League game. It will be interesting to see how those two worlds combine. Rumours also suggest that the game will have the largest map ever in Batman games.

While fans have finally got glimpses of what they can expect from Gotham Knights, the initial response doesn’t seem to be that good. It remains to be seen how things pan out for the game as the release date draws closer.

Gotham Knights will release in 2021 and will be available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, and Xbox Series.
