Tottenham winger Lucas Moura has spoken about how his Brazilian compatriot Carlos Vinicius is settling in.

Vinicius arrived on loan from Benfica during the summer, finally giving Tottenham an experienced striking alternative to Harry Kane.

He has started twice, both in the Europa League, although he’s yet to score and was hooked at half time against Ludogorets earlier this month.

As per Football.London, Lucas talked up Vinicius, claiming he’s been impressing in training and a maiden Spurs goal is just around the corner.

“Yeah, we know that for a number nine it’s always important (to score),” said Lucas. “But he just arrived here and he’s learning about our way to play, how is the Premier League, the intensity of the Premier League.

“He’s doing well during the week, during the training sessions and there’s also the desire to score. Sometimes it can be difficult and very soon he’ll score.

“The most important thing is the coach and I’m sure that Mourinho has the patience that he needs to have in a new player. Everyone believes in Carlos, he’s a very important player who will help us a lot in the future.

It’s a long season and Vinicius will be vital if he allows Kane to have a rest when he needs it, especially if Spurs go deep into the Europa League.

He wouldn’t be expected to come in and hit the ground running in a new country, especially without getting regular football.

As Lucas says, patience is key and he should get another chance to show what he can do tonight at home to Ludogorets.

A first goal would get the monkey off his back because that’s the kind of thing which can weigh heavy if it drags on.

But Lucas has faith in his countryman to soon show why he was brought to the club.
