Inter Milan are reportedly interested in signing Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, according to Calciomercato.

The Argentine forward is the club’s all-time record goal-scorer with 254 goals from 370 appearances in all competitions.

The 32-year-old has yet to feature for Pep Guardiola’s men this campaign. He has been sidelined with a knee injury since June.

Sergio Aguero is expected to return in November and has now been linked with a move to the San Siro.

Inter Milan interest

The Nerazzurri have strengthened well under Antonio Conte, who took over at the helm last season.

The former Chelsea manager is eager to return Inter to their former glory. Conte secured a second place finish in Serie A last term. He also led the side to runners-up in the Europa League and the Coppa Italia semi-final, where they were beaten by eventual winners Napoli.

The club are allegedly keen to land the striker on an initial two-year deal, with an optional third. The reported fee could see Aguero earn €7 million to €8 million per season.

The deal could potentially see Aguero replace his much-sought-after compatriot Lautaro Martinez. The 23-year-old has been linked with moves to the Etihad and Barcelona.

Aguero’s absence

Aguero, who is out of contract in June, scored 16 goals in the league last term. It was his second-lowest tally since joining the Citizens, in what was an injury-hit campaign.

The side thoroughly felt his absence during that period. This was despite the best efforts of Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez and Kevin De Bruyne, who also managed double figures in the league.

This saw City become the first team in Premier League history to have five players reach the milestone.

However, Manchester City once again fell short of the Champions League last four. They also surrendered their league and FA Cup titles.

Desperate for Sergio Aguero

City haven’t had the best of starts this season either. Despite a game in hand, the side sit 14th in the table. They are winless in their last two league games.

Their penultimate fixture saw them concede five goals against Leicester City. For Pep Guardiola, that was the worst defeat of his managerial career so far.
