It has been reported by the Daily Mail that Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is set to have a talk with starlet Mason Greenwood.
The reason for the talk – the player’s expulsion from the England squad before the game against Denmark.
The talks between the pair and can only benefit Greenwood in the long run.
When the duo discuss what happened obviously the United boss will no doubt warn Greenwood about what happened. However, Solskjaer will no doubt inform the player how valuable he is to the club.
Great scoring return last season
It should not be forgotten that Greenwood scored 17 goals last season, a great return for such a young player.
There is no need to go over why Greenwood and Phil Foden were sent home by England.
They made a mistake, and have faced the consequences, and now it is time to move on.
Now, one good thing for the player is that Manchester United are not in action this weekend. Their run in Europe has given them a later start in the Premier League.
That allows the player to just get on with his game following his talk with the manager.
Greenwood is just at the start of his career, and if he keeps playing as well as he has done so far, it could be a very successful career.
There might be some people out there who want Greenwood to be reprimanded by the club, but there isn’t likely to be any suspensions or anything like that.
Maybe the player will get a warning about further behaviour. He may be told to apologise to Manchester United fans.
Club will want to draw line under situation
However, with the season only a week away from starting for Manchester United, they will want to draw a line under the situation as soon as possible.
That is where the talk with Solskjaer will be useful for the player. He will presumably be told in no uncertain terms by the club how to behave in the future.
That can only be a positive for Greenwood, who should be looking to put the incident behind him. He can achieve that after his reported talk with Solskjaer.
