Here’s a round-up of the latest transfer news surrounding Rangers.

Last week we reported on Rangers’ links to Thomas Robert, Alfie Doughty and Dion McGhee, and the possible departure of two members of Steven Gerrard’s squad.

Rangers transfer update – possible signings

Scott Wright

Aberdeen are preparing themselves for Rangers to bid for Scott Wright, according to the Scottish Sun.

Gerrard is keen to bring in the 23-year-old forward and intends to open pre-contract talks this month.

Midfielder Ryan Jack made the switch from Aberdeen to Rangers in 2017 – and that went rather well.

Fashion Sakala

Gerrard is also eager to land Oostende striker Fashion Sakala, according to the Daily Record.

 

The Zambian made the move to Belgium from Spartak Moscow two years ago.

He has six goals and two assists in his 16 league games this season. The attacker has also featured on the right wing for Oostende.

Kyle Joseph

Rangers are also heavily interested in a pre-contract deal for Wigan Athletic’s Kyle Joseph, as reported by The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 58, January 10, 2021).

The 19-year-old’s deal with the League One side expires this summer. 

The report says the exciting youngster is also wanted by Tottenham Hotspur.

Rangers transfer update – departures

Jack Thompson

Young midfielder Jack Thompson has agreed a deal to join League One side Clyde on loan for the remainder of the campaign:

Kai Kennedy

Also leaving Ibrox on a temporary deal is winger Kai Kennedy. After a short-term spell with Inverness, the 18-year-old has joined Raith Rovers until the end of the season.

The move comes after Kennedy signed a new long-term deal with Rangers.
