Out-of-favour Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi has all but confirmed speculation of a potential exit to Crystal Palace, following a tweet in which he referenced his infamous ‘Batsman’ signal.

The Belgian, who adopted the nickname, as a result of his proficient goal-scoring record in decisive moments, was similarly announced by The Eagles, when he signed on loan for the south London outfit during the second-half on the 2018-2019 season.

The tweet has led many to believe that Batshuayi is returning to Selhurst Park.

Batshuayi has reportedly agreed terms to rejoin The Eagles, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who insists the Belgian is one of five players to be departing Frank Lampard‘s side this summer.

The striker has fallen down the pecking-order at The Blues behind Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud, and managed just one Premier League start last season.

Having seen Timo Werner and versatile midfielder Kai Havertz join the club this summer, his place in the side is further under threat and a move to The Glaziers would provide him with the chance to obtain game time.

During his spell on loan at Palace, he scored six times from 13 games overall, five of which came in eleven league games.

He scored three in his final two league matches for The Eagles, who finished 12th and equalled their highest-ever Premier League points tally of 49.

Batshuayi, who is out of contract next summer, is expected to sign a one-year contract extension at The Blues before joining Palace, according to BBC Sport.

The extension would prevent him from leaving on a free transfer next summer.

Reports from The Standard, had suggested the Selhurst Park club were also keen on Chelsea’s 20 year-old midfielder Conor Gallagher.

However, due to Premier League restrictions permitting only one player from a specific club (in this case Chelsea) joining another in Palace at one time, Batshuayi’s move would jeopardise any hope of The Eagles landing the Englishman.

Crystal Palace get their 2020-21 Premier League campaign underway at home against Southampton on Saturday at 3pm, while The Blues travel to Brighton on Monday evening.

It remains to be seen whether Michy Batshuayi will have made a Chelsea exit by then.
