National Teacher Appreciation Day falls on Tuesday, 3 May 2022 – Appreciation Week runs from 1 to 7 May, according to a recent presidential proclamation. Here’s what Chick-Fil-A has got in store for teachers this year, and where to pick up your Teacher Appreciation freebies.

What is Chick-Fil-A giving away for Teacher Appreciation Day and Week 2022?

Chick-Fil-A often makes a point of celebrating Teacher Appreciation Day and Week by giving teachers free chicken sandwiches. 

However, teaching blogger Surviving A Teacher’s Salary notes that, because of covid-19, some restaurants may not be participating in nationwide giveaways. So call your local branch before going.

This year, Chick-Fil-A is partnering with SPARK Foundation. On Tuesday, 3 May 2022, school staff will be able to receive one Chick-Fil-A original sandwich when they show their school/Division badge at participating locations.

Which locations are participating? Bristol, Dumfries, Lake Ridge, Sueley Road and Woodbridge, according to the SPARK Foundation’s tweet of 29 April. But don’t worry. If you don’t work in a SPARK school, you can still get your hands on a chicken sandwich giveaway.

Are there any specific Chick-Fil-A give-away events this year?

Yes. Fox counts at least three in South Carolina alone. Chick-Fil-A Travelers Rest is offering “all local educators, school staff, bus drivers, and administrators” a free sandwich or eight-count nugget for Teacher Appreciation Day.

Chick-Fil-A restaurants in Taylors and Greenville are also participating in the Teacher Appreciation 2022 event.

Even if you can’t find an event page online for your local Chick-Fil-A restaurant, there appears to be a good chance it’s participating in national Teacher Appreciation Week celebrations. But again, to be on the safe side, you could call ahead to make sure.

Some other notable freebies on offer this year

Barnes & Noble cafes (participating locations only) are offering free cups of coffee and tea to teachers presenting a valid ID. Also, teachers who sign up to be a Barnes & Noble Educator will get discounts on purchases for classroom use. Read more on their website here.

WRAL lists Teacher Appreciation Week giveaways by Buffalo Wild Wings, Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, Laffy Taffy and some McDonald’s restaurants.

FOX4 adds Adidas, Budget Truck Rental, Champion, CheapCaribbean, Costco, KC Power & Light restaurants, Lululemon, Norwegian Cruise Line, Sam’s Club, Sonic, Under Armour, Whataburger and Zaxby’s to that list. However, note that these are companies offering discounts, not freebies.
