It always raises eyebrows when a TV presenter is absent from a broadcast.

Channel 4’s F1 presenter Steve Jones was absent in Baku at the Azerbaijan GP recently and fans were wondering where he was.

Instead, presenter Lee Mackenzie was joined by Mark Webber on the show.

Fans react to Channel 4 presenter being absent in Baku

Jones’ absence from Channel 4’s F1 highlights was talking point among fans watching the action.

One person said: ‘Missed @SteveJones but loved seeing you and hearing you all. Great show, looking forward to race time at 5.30pm’.

Another said: ‘Lee McKenzie is a far superior presenter and far more knowledgeable. Jones annoys the hell out of me.

Another added: ‘I did in enjoy the coverage largely thanks to @LeeMcKenzieTV . Her forthright style questioning guests is a great compared with the sycophant style of Steve Jones. Less Jones more McKenzie please.’

Why is Steve Jones not presenting F1 today?

Fans were wondering where the usual presenter was.

He took to Twitter to explain his reason for not being in Baku, stating that he did not receive his Test To Fly certificate in time to get there.
