Who are Naomi Biden's parents? President's granddaughter ties the knot

As Naomi Biden ties the knot on the White House South Lawn, you might be curious to know who her parents are and how she’s related to the sitting US president.

It was a weekend full of festivities at the White House, as President Joe Biden turned 80 years old and his granddaughter, Naomi, got married to Peter Neal. Both occasions took place at the presidential residence on Saturday, November 19, 2022.

Biden, celebrating his 80th year, becomes the first-ever octogenarian to assume the role of President of the United States. But while this milestone was being celebrated, more attention was shone on the younger Bidens, as Naomi tied the knot.

So, who are Naomi Biden’s parents and which family members were in attendance at this November’s White House wedding?

Who are Naomi Biden’s parents?

Naomi Biden is one of three daughters born to Hunter Biden and his ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle. Hunter and Kathleen met while working for the Jesuit Volunteer Corps in Portland, Oregon. They married in 1993, the same year Naomi was born. Naomi Biden is 28 years old as of publication date, born on December 22, 1993.

Hunter Biden and Kathleen have two other daughters named Finnegan and Maisy.

Hunter Biden has two children from other relationships, an unnamed daughter born in August 2018 and a son, Beau, named after Hunter’s late brother, born in March 2020.

Naomi’s parents separated in 2017

Kathleen Buhle filed for divorce in 2016 with her marriage to Hunter Biden annulled a year later. Naomi Biden would have been around 22 years old when her parents separated.

Shortly after they separated, Hunter Biden confirmed he was in a relationship with Hallie Biden, the wife of his late brother Beau, in a statement to The New York Post.

“Hallie and I are incredibly lucky to have found the love and support we have for each other in such a difficult time, and that’s been obvious to the people who love us most. We’ve been so lucky to have family and friends who have supported us every step of the way,” Hunter said in the statement. This relationship ended in 2019.

Hunter Biden then married South African filmmaker Melissa Cohen in May 2019. The couple welcomed baby Beau just under a year later.

In June 2022, Kathleen Buhle published her memoir, If We Break, detailing the breakdown of her marriage.

Who are Joe Biden’s other children?

President Joe Biden has welcomed four children throughout his life. Tragically, only two of President Biden’s children are alive.

Biden welcomed his first three children, Beau, Hunter, and daughter Naomi, with his late wife Neilia Hunter. Naomi Biden tragically died at the age of 13 months in a car accident. This is also the accident that took Neilia Hunter’s life. While out shopping just days before Christmas in 1972, Neilia and Naomi Biden were killed in a car accident after a tractor-trailer collided with their family car. Sons Beau and Hunter were also in the car accident, but survived.

In June 1977, Joe Biden remarried first lady Jill Biden. Together they share one child, a daughter named Ashley.

The Biden family show up to support Naomi on wedding day

The whole Biden bunch were at the White House this weekend (Saturday, November 19) to celebrate Naomi Biden and Peter Neal’s nuptials.

Naomi wore Ralph Lauren, a favorite of the President’s granddaughter, as reported by Vogue. Her parents, Hunter and Kathleen, walked her down the aisle.

There were 250 guests in attendance at the South Lawn wedding, which included the president and first lady.
