Who was the tallest president? President Biden and his wife, Jill, visited Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter at their home in Georgia this week. After a photo was posted online, it sparked people’s curiosity, after there appeared to be a big height difference between the Bidens and the Carters.

So, which president was the tallest? And what height are Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter?

How tall is Jimmy Carter?

In the photo posted to Twitter, the Carters look a lot smaller than the Bidens. This has led to many people wondering what height they both are.

So, we’re here to let you know that the 39th President of the US, Jimmy Carter, is a very respectable 5ft 9.5in. Or, if you prefer, that’s 177cm. This makes him the 32nd tallest president.

President Carter and his wife Rosalynn have been married since 1946, and so celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary last year. This made the pair officially the longest-married presidential couple.

As for Rosalynn’s height, I hear you ask? She’s approximately 5ft 4in, or 165cm.

But yes, the photo of the Carters and the Bidens shows Jimmy and Rosalynn as being much smaller than Joe and Jill. So, what height are the Bidens?

President Biden is around 5ft 11.5in, making him the 20th tallest president. Jill Biden is approximately 5ft 5in, or 168cm.

Interestingly, the Carters are the average height of most Americans. The US average has men at 5ft 9in and women at 5ft 4in.

So, there has got to be some other reason for the Bidens’ appearing so tall compared to the Carters, since there isn’t much real height difference!

If it isn’t President Biden, then which US President was the tallest?

Well, according to potus.com, the 16th US President, Abraham Lincoln, was the tallest. He was 6ft 4in, or 193cm.

Up next is 36th President, Lyndon B. Johnson, at 6ft 3.5in or 192cm. In third place comes the 45th President, Donald J. Trump, at 6ft 3in or 191cm.

But who was the smallest president? Well, that feat goes to the 4th US President, James Madison, who was just 5ft 4in or 163cm.
