Is the Mystery Flesh Pit real or fake? People have questions about the Texas National Park “attraction” after its creator tweeted about a long-awaited update.

What is the Mystery Flesh Pit?

The Mystery Flesh Pit is the name given to a “bizarre natural geobiological feature discovered in the Permian basin region of West Texas in the early 1970s.”

That’s in the words of the creator, Trevor Roberts. The illustrator goes on to describe the national park’s fleshy central feature, which has posters and brochures.

  • EXPLORED: Who is New York Jets star Carl Lawson’s girlfriend?

He says in a chat with Tor: “The pit is characterized as an enormous subterranean organism of indeterminate size and origin embedded deep within the earth, displaying a vast array of highly unusual and often disturbing phenomena within its vast internal anatomy.”

In other words, it is a pit whose walls are made of a flesh-like substance, and which goes deep into the earth.

As mentioned, it’s a creation by artist Trevor Roberts. Thankfully.

It’s what’s called a worldbuilding project. Worldbuilding is the process of constructing a fictional universe so, despite the official-looking brochures, it is definitely something that a creative cooked up in his head.

Most of the lore can be found on either the official Subreddit or on Tumblr, with videos being hosted on a related YouTube channel.

  • PROFILED: Who is Jeff Bezos’ sister, Christina?

While building the setting, Roberts is also in the process of creating a book, and can be supported on his Patreon.

Today, 22 July, the artist took to his funding site to thank people for their enthusiasm for the project. “Thankyou so much for your support for this project,” he wrote.

Twitter reaction to Roberts’ new work

Drawing attention to a new video, Roberts tweeted out to his 16,000 followers yesterday 21 July.

He wrote: “New thing on the thing. YouTube already limited the ads so it must be good. Thank you to @AidanChickTV for the video idea in the first place.”

  • REVEALED: Why is The Anime Man’s new watch so ‘hilarious’?

Alongside it he shared a graphic which revealed a “safety guide for wildlife,” the gear a park ranger wears and also a picture of the fleshy pit.

In response, his dedicated fans shared their love. One fan said: “Babe wake up mystery flesh pit updated.”

Another added: “Anyone else have a constant background hum of obsession the the Mystery Flesh Pit National Park?”

A third asked: “All I’m asking for is for a bf that’s willing to listen to me rant about the Mystery Flesh Pit National Park, is it that much to ask???”
