US Representative Jackie Walorski who stood for Indiana’s second congressional district has sadly passed away aged 58 following a fatal car crash.
According to Reuters, Walorski and two members of her staff, Emma Thomson and Zachery Potts, died on Wednesday (August 3). The vehicle they were in tragically collided with a car that had crossed into their lane.
As Walorski and her two staff members are mourned across congress, many have since sent their condolences to Jackie Walorski’s husband and their families online.

Jackie Walorski’s husband Dean is a school teacher
The late Indiana congresswoman was married to husband of almost three decades, Dean.
Dean is a school teacher who teaches music to students from kindergarten to sixth grade. As per Walorski’s congress site, he is a teacher within the Indiana city of Mishawaka.
The couple wed in 1995, and this year would have celebrated 27 years of marriage. Soon after they tied the knot, they served as missionaries in Romania. However, just as the couple were about to fly out, the organisation they were set to help out folded.
Walorski and her husband still ended up travelling to Romania and founded their own agency, which helped children in need by providing food and medical supplies.
Late representative’s family life
Jackie Walorski was born and raised in South Bend, Indiana. She later served the community she grew up in within congress as a representative for the state’s second congressional district.
Walorski’s father was a firefighter who, as well as tackling blazes, was also a small business owner as he ran his own appliance store. The politician’s mother was a grocery store worker who manned the meat section as a butcher.
The late representative was also said to have two older brothers, with Walorski having previously reflected on growing up alongside them in an interview with NSSF.
As explained on Walorski’s congress site, she was the first out of her family to attend college. She was an alumni of both Liberty University and Taylor University.
Figures across congress send condolences to Walorski’s family
Following the news of her sudden passing, fellow US representatives and other political figures have sent their thoughts to Jackie Walorski’s family.
President Biden has also released a statement. He and wife Jill extended their “deepest condolences” to Walorski’s husband and to the loved ones of the two members of her staff who also died, Zachery Potts and Emma Thomson.
Vice President Kamela Harris has since echoed deepest conolences.
Californian representative Darrell Issa remembered her dedication to her job.
Ohio rep Shontel Brown spoke of the sad news.
