He had an incredibly successful career, being given the title of NFL coach of the year in 1997.
Fassel had previously played quarterback at Long Beach State, as well as at USC. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 1972 in the 7th round of the NFL draft.

Meet Jim’s wife Kitty Fassel
Kitty and Jim married in 1971. However, it appears that Kitty likes to keep her personal life quite private as there is little information about her online.
The pair were only 19 years old when they gave up their eldest son, John Matheison, for adoption on 5 April 1969. This was partially because they were not yet married.
Kitty and John Fassel searched for their son for many years and were reunited with him on 14 May 2003.
However, the couple divorced in 2006 after 35 years together. Although they soon worked through their differences and remarried.

John previously attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, and then played for Weber State University as a wide receiver.
He initially worked with the Oakland Raiders in 2009, and then moved in 2012 to work for the St Louis Rams as a special teams coordinator.
