The New Shepard craft landed safely earlier today, marking Blue Origin’s first passenger spaceflight. On board were Jeff Bezos and his brother Mark, as well as aerospace pioneer Mary “Wally” Funk and Dutch teen Oliver Daemen, whose dad paid for his ticket. But who is Jeff Bezos’ sister, Christina Bezos? Are he and his siblings close?

Meet the Bezos sister, Christina

Christina Bezos Poore is Jeff’s younger sister. She is in her early 50s, according to Fame Chain, and is one of the co-directors of the Bezos Family Foundation.

Her husband is Stephen Poore, who also sits on the non-profit’s board of directors.

Christina keeps a low profile, presumably because of her brother’s profile is so high – in more ways than one.

However, she did make herself known during the lead-up to her two brothers’ ascent today.

What did Jeff Bezos’ sister say about his spaceflight?

Shortly before his flight today, Christina Bezos shared a message to him. She acknowledged that spaceflight was “something you’ve dreamed of your whole life” and called his passion for space “infectious”.

She also addressed her brother Mark, saying, “you’re the best champion when it comes to encouraging us in our adventures”.

CNN anchor Ana Cabrera tweeted an hour ago that Christina had told the Bezos brothers to “hurry back”, and that she loved them.

“Godspeed New Shepard”, she said.

The Hollywood Reporter, meanwhile, wrote that the Bezos sister had reminded Jeff and Mark that, when they used to play Star Trek as kids, Jeff played Captain Kirk. Mark played Sulu – portrayed by George Takei in the original series – while Christina played Lieutenant Uhara.

Apparently, as a child, Jeff once rigged an electric alarm to prevent his younger siblings, Mark and Christina, from getting into his bedroom.

Is Jeff Bezos close to his siblings?

Given that Mark, 53, joined Jeff on his flight today, and not Christina, it would appear that, of the two siblings, Jeff is closer with his brother.

However, it might be that Christina is simply not interested in spending 11 minutes aboard New Shepard flying 351,000 feet into the air.

SCMP dubbed Mark Jeff’s “BFF” – best friend forever. When Jeff offered the opportunity to his brother, whom he also describes as his best friend, Mark was “awestruck” and, as we know, accepted.

What is Mark Bezos’ net worth?

Exact Net Worth estimates Jeff Bezos’ brother’s net worth to be above $40 million. Others estimate $60 million.

He recently put a property worth $11 million up for sale, and formerly worked for the non-profit Robin Hood, a poverty-fighting organisation.

Last year, Showbiz411 reported that Mark Bezos was taking home $240,000 a year as Robin Hood’s communications director in 2015 and 2016.

He now runs a New York-based private equity firm, HighPost Capital, which he founded in 2019.

Mark Bezos met his wife, Lisa, in Scarsdale, New York State. They have four children together: daughters Ellie and Mia, and sons Owen and Drew.
